# Getting started with MCP

Claude and Claude Desktop

Use the remote MCP URL directly. Claude handles auth in the browser.

1.  In Claude or Claude Desktop, go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
2.  Set the name to ‘beehiiv’ and paste this connector URL.

3.  Claude will redirect you to beehiiv’s oAuth page.
4.  Sign in with your beehiiv account to grant access.

What access do you get?

-   v1 is read-only, meaning it can analyze your account data, but it can’t take any actions on your behalf (no publishing posts, editing content, or changing settings).
-   v2 is coming soon and expands this with both read and write access. It won’t just surface insights, but act on them directly within your account.
