# How to migrate from Active Campaign to beehiiv

In order to successfully migrate from Active Campaign to beehiiv, you’ll need to do two things:

-   Migrate your subscribers
-   Migrate your newsletter content

Follow the step-by-step instructions for each below.

## Export your subscribers from Active Campaign

1.  Log into your [Active Campaign](https://www.activecampaign.com/login) account  to start exporting subscribers.  
     
2.  Navigate to the  **Contacts** tab and select **Lists**.

3.  Click on the newsletter list that you want to export.

4.  You’ll be brought to a page where you can view your selected list. In the right top corner, click on **Export**.

5.  When initiating an export, a module will pop up for you to define your **Export Options**. Give the export a name, then choose the fields that you wish to export. Click on **Export** to start the process.

6.  You’ll receive a notification on your screen stating that the export has started and it also gives you the option to view the progress.

7.  After the export has completed, go to **Contacts > Exports**, then download and save the CSV file.

## Import your subscribers to beehiiv

Before you import the exported Active Campaign CSV file into beehiiv, it is best practice to look through the data and clean up any fields.

1.  Open the exported Active Campaign CSV file and review the header, or top row, information.

2.  You’ll want to make sure the header fields use the same names as the [custom fields](https://beehiiv.com/support/article/7712894720023) that you’ll be using in beehiiv. Remove any data that you don’t plan to use.

3.  Log into your [beehiiv](https://app.beehiiv.com/settings/publication/import_subscribers) account. From the left hand panel, go to **Settings > Publication,** then click on the [**Import Subscribers**](https://app.beehiiv.com/settings/publication/import_subscribers) tab.  
     
4.  After clicking the **Start New Import** button, you’ll be prompted to choose an import method. Select **Upload a CSV file**, and then choose the CSV file that you want to import.

    If you have a welcome email setup or an active automation, you can choose those options or leave them blank. You can also select or skip the email validation.  
     
5.  Review your selections and click on **Import Subscribers**.  
     
6.  A confirmation message will pop up, and you’ll need to verify that the contacts in the list have knowingly opted into receiving emails from you. Click on **Import** to confirm.

7.  Next, you’ll be able to start mapping out the fields from the CSV file as custom fields within beehiiv.

8.  When done making your selections, click on the **Import** button.  
     
9.  Once completed, you’ll see how many subscribers were accepted and added to your publication.

10.  You can then view the newly added subscribers by navigating to the [Audience](https://app.beehiiv.com/subscribers) section of your account.

11.  To see the newly imported custom fields, click on an individual subscriber’s name and navigate to the **Custom Fields** section.

## Content Migration

Currently, there’s no direct integration or automated tool to import previous Active Campaign newsletter content into beehiiv. We’re actively developing an import tool to simplify this process and will update this article once it becomes available.

In the meantime, you can migrate your content by either:

-   [Manually copying and pasting](https://www.beehiiv.com/support/article/35440331244823) your Active Campaign posts into new beehiiv posts, or
