# How to migrate from Klaviyo to beehiiv

In order to successfully migrate from Klaviyo to beehiiv, you’ll need to do two things:

-   Migrate your subscribers
-   Migrate your newsletter content

Follow the step-by-step instructions for each below.

## Export your subscribers from Klaviyo

1.  Log into your [Klaviyo Account](https://www.klaviyo.com/dashboard)  to start exporting subscribers.  
     
2.  Navigate to **Audience** and then select **Lists & segments**.

3.  You will be brought to your **Lists & segments** page. Locate and click on the newsletter list that you want to export.

4.  You’ll be brought to a page where you can view your selected list of subscribers.

5.  In the top right corner, click on **Manage List** to reveal the dropdown menu, and then select the **Export list to CSV** option.

6.  You will be brought to the **Export Review** page where you can select any additional properties that you wish to include in your CSV export.

7.  Once you have selected all the properties, a modal will appear at the bottom, click on **Start Export** to begin the process.

8.  When initiating an export, you’ll be brought to another page where you can view the progress of the export.

9.  Once the export is completed, it will automatically download the CSV for you. Make note of where it is saved on your device.

## Import your subscribers to beehiiv

Before you import the exported Klaviyo CSV file into beehiiv, it is best practice to look through the data and clean up any fields.

1.  Open the exported Klaviyo CSV file and review the header, or top row, information.

2.  You’ll want to make sure the header fields use the same names as the [custom fields](https://beehiiv.com/support/article/7712894720023) that you’ll be using in beehiiv. Remove any data that you don’t plan to use.

3.  Log into your [beehiiv](https://app.beehiiv.com/settings/publication/import_subscribers) account. From the left hand panel, go to **Settings > Publication,** then click the [**Import Subscribers**](https://app.beehiiv.com/settings/publication/import_subscribers) tab.  
     
4.  After clicking the **Start New Import** button, you’ll be prompted to choose an import method. Select **Upload a CSV file**, and then choose the CSV file that you want to import.

    If you have a welcome email setup or an active automation, you can choose those options or leave them blank. You can also select or skip the email validation.  
     
5.  Review your selections and click on **Import Subscribers**.  
     
6.  A confirmation message will pop up where you will need to confirm that the contacts in the list have knowingly opted-in to receiving emails from you. Click on **Import** to confirm.

7.  Next, you’ll be able to start mapping out the fields from the CSV file as custom fields within beehiiv.

8.  When done making your selections, click on the **Import** button.  
     
9.  Once completed, you’ll see how many subscribers were accepted and added to your publication.

10.  You can then view the newly added subscribers by navigating to the [**Audience**](https://app.beehiiv.com/subscribers) section of your account.

11.  To see the newly imported custom fields, click on an individual subscriber’s name and navigate to the **Custom Fields** section.

## Content Migration

Currently, there’s no direct integration or automated tool to import previous Klaviyo newsletter content into beehiiv. We’re actively developing an import tool to simplify this process and will update this article once it becomes available.

In the meantime, you can migrate your content by either:
