Within this workspace, you can [assign team members](http://eehiiv.com/support/article/9362967481367) to be an Admin, Member, or Contributor. In this article, we’ll explain the responsibilities and capabilities of each role, along with some practical use cases. We’ll also provide detailed charts outlining the permissions for different features within beehiiv. --- ## Types of user roles ### Owner The Admin who originally created the publication is automatically assigned the role of Owner. To transfer ownership of a publication or workspace, review our [article on transferring ownership](https://www.beehiiv.com/support/article/31434899303447), then go to [**Help**](https://app.beehiiv.com/help) (in the top navbar) to submit a support ticket. --- ### Admin Admins have full account access: Subscriber lists, the wallet, revenue data, settings, and all other areas.  - Only one Admin role can hold the Owner title. - Grant Admin access only to trusted [team members in your workspace](https://beehiivhelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/9362967481367). --- ### Member The Member role is designed for team members who need access to most features but should not have access to more sensitive settings, typically reserved for Admins. **Members can perform all tasks except the following:** - Members cannot update Stripe accounts, bank accounts, billing, or domains. - Members cannot export data, access the API, or change workspace settings. --- ### Contributor This Contributor role is dedicated to content creation, with access limited to the post editor and automations. It’s ideal for freelance writers or content creators who don’t need access to data or settings. **Contributors can:** - Create and design posts, post templates, and automations. - However, they _cannot_ publish posts or activate automations. --- ## Role limits based on plan | Plan | User Limit | | ------------------ | ------------------------- | | Scale or Max Trial | 1 user (the Owner) | | Launch | 1 user (the Owner) | | Scale | 3 users (Owner + 2 users) | | Max | Unlimited users | | Enterprise | Unlimited users | --- ## Types of access levels  ### Publication access This type of access allows a team member to fulfill their role in a specific publication to which they are assigned. For example, if your workspace includes three publications (A, B, and C) and you want this user to have access only to publications A and C, you would invite them as a 'publication' member twice — once for each publication. ### Workspace member access Workspace Member access grants permissions across _all publications_ within the workspace. For example, if a user is added as a ‘Workspace Member,’ they will have Member access to every publication in the workspace. This access automatically extends to any future publications you add to the workspace, providing streamlined permissions across the board. > **Tech Note** > > **Workspace Admins** and **Owners** are the only users who have permissions to access workspace settings, including creating a publication. Additionally, only the **workspace Owner** can delete subscriber tags, delete a publication, or delete the workspace. --- ## Example roles and use cases **Freelancer Access** “I’m hiring a freelancer to write posts across all publications, but I don’t want them to see my revenue or access the subscriber list.” _Solution:_ Assign this user as a _Workspace Contributor_. **Automation Coordinator** “I have a team member who manages our automations and publishes posts, but I don’t want them to have access to export our full subscriber list, and their work is limited to one specific newsletter.” _Solution:_ Assign this user as a _Publication Member_ for that specific publication. **Mixed role across publications** “I want this person to be an Admin for our first publication but a Member for the other two.
