This article covers quick tips for using subscribe forms effectively, how to add them to your site, and why it’s important to assign a signup flow to each form. --- ### Quick tips to get you started - **Subscribe forms and survey forms serve different purposes** Subscribe forms on your beehiiv website focus on capturing initial signup details such as name and email. They are fully customizable and lead your readers through a signup flow experience. [Survey forms](https://beehiiv.com/support/article/21900901004311), on the other hand, are added directly to posts and help you gather additional information from existing subscribers. Both types of forms use [custom fields](https://www.beehiiv.com/support/article/7712894720023) to store and organize data in your account. - **Subscribe forms are different from your Signup page** Your Signup page is part of your beehiiv publication site and is customized through the [Website Builder](https://www.beehiiv.com/support/article/29730433807767). Subscribe forms can be added to any page on your website, and both lead your subscribers through a signup form experience. - **Subscribe forms on your website are different from an embedded subscribe form** Embedded subscribe forms are used externally, or on custom pages within a website built using the Legacy Website Builder.  - **Build audience segments for your forms** You can craft [audience segments](https://beehiiv.com/support/article/9366426644503) based on which embedded form a subscriber used, helping you target specific subscriber groups more effectively. - **Trigger automations when someone subscribes** Use the [Email Submitted trigger](https://www.beehiiv.com/support/article/18743686099991) to start an [automation workflow](https://www.beehiiv.com/support/article/18743686099991-types-of-workflows-how-to-create-automations-for-your-subscribers) whenever someone completes a subscribe form. You can also link a subscribe form block directly to a specific automation using the Manual trigger — useful when you want subscribers who submit a particular form, such as one on a custom page or landing page, to enter a dedicated workflow automatically. See [Methods for enrolling subscribers in automations](https://www.beehiiv.com/support/article/21526057683991-methods-for-enrolling-subscribers-in-automations) for details. > **Tech Note** > > The subscribe form linking feature applies to native subscribe form blocks in the Website Builder only. [Embedded subscribe forms](https://www.beehiiv.com/support/article/12977090590487-creating-an-embedded-subscribe-form) are not supported. --- ## How to add a subscribe form to your beehiiv website 1.
