How to view and restore your website version history

Notice: This article covers the new Website Builder, which is continuously evolving based on customer feedback. Some details seen here may differ from what you see in-app while we update the KB.

The Website Builder automatically saves your work as you edit. It also includes version history, giving you the freedom to try new designs knowing that you can return to a previous version at any time. You can preview past versions and restore either a site-wide version or a single page version.

Where to find version history

Version history can be accessed in two ways:

  1. From the top navbar: Easily access full website version history by clicking on the version history icon in the top navbar. By default, this view provides site-wide versions to revert to first, scroll down to see individual pages.

Pro Tip: The two buttons next to the version history icon are Undo and Redo icons, giving you options to revert individual changes, without the need to revert the full page.
  2. From a page-specific 3 dots menu: You can access the version history for any individual page by clicking the 3 dots menu next to the page, then selecting Version History

Version history options

Upon opening the version history modal, the canvas in the center will show a visual of the selected version in the right panel. Toggle between the Desktop and Mobile experience to view the changes for each version.

Use the dropdown menu on the right to choose between a Site wide version history, or individual pages.

Tech Note: If you open version history from the top navbar, it shows site-wide history by default. If you open it from a page’s 3 dots menu, it defaults to that page’s history.

Moving down the history, versions are listed by timestamp; the current version is labeled. Scroll down to view earlier versions you can restore.

When you find the version you want, select it, confirm the preview looks good, then click the Restore version button.

Once restored, you can still return to the previous, non-reverted version if you wish. Simply open version history again and restore the timestamp just before your last restore.
