How to access the beehiiv MCP to connect your AI tools

The beehiiv MCP (Model Context Protocol) server allows you to connect your beehiiv account to AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. Once connected, your AI tool can securely access your newsletter and website data — including content, subscriber information, and performance metrics — and use it to generate insights and complete tasks on your behalf.

The current version of the beehiiv MCP provides read-only access to your beehiiv account. Once connected, you can prompt your AI tool to perform tasks using your real beehiiv data. 

Examples include:

• Analyze subject line performance across your recent posts.
• Generate a weekly revenue and ad performance report.
• Identify subscriber segments with high unsubscribe rates.
• Build a content calendar based on your top-performing topics.
• Suggest sponsor categories matched to your audience demographics.

• Identify top-performing links and deep engagement insights.

The beehiiv MCP is currently in early access and available to paid plans only.

3. Click Request Early Access.
4. Upon acceptance, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions to connect your beehiiv account to your AI client of choice and an invitation to the beehiiv private Slack community.

The beehiiv MCP and the beehiiv API are separate surfaces with different design philosophies and should not be thought of as one sitting on top of the other, though there may be some functional overlap.

The beehiiv API is structured and deterministic, meaning, the same input returns the same output every time. It is versioned, and beehiiv will not introduce breaking changes without advance deprecation notice.

Best used for: Fixed, programmatic integrations where consistency and reliability are a priority.

The beehiiv MCP is built for AI agents, which are non-deterministic by nature. It accepts less structured queries and returns richer, more flexible responses, but with less consistency. beehiiv continuously updates MCP tools to improve how agents interact with them, so response formats may change without notice.

Not yet. Write access is not available in v1. beehiiv is actively working on v2, which will include the ability to create drafts, build automations, manage segments, and more.

No. When MCP write functionality becomes available, there will be some overlap with Send API capabilities. If consistency and reliability in formatting and design are a priority, the beehiiv API will remain the better choice for production sends.

How long does early access approval take?
beehiiv is approving users on a rolling basis. You will receive a confirmation email once your request has been approved.
How do workspace user roles and permissions affect MCP access?
All workspace user roles can use the beehiiv MCP. However, the data accessible to each user via the MCP is limited to what that user can view in-app based on their workspace role and permissions.
