Post byline customization options
Article Contents
The byline of your posts appears at the top of your newsletter and typically includes the profile picture and name of the person who wrote or published the content, and the date. You can customize its appearance directly from the Post Builder to match your publication's style.
Accessing your post byline
Click into your post's header area, where the title and subtitle sit. A toolbar appears below it with Title & subtitle, Authors, Web thumbnail, and Content tags. Click Authors to select the byline, which opens the style panel scoped to Style > Email header > Byline.
Byline styling options
Once you've opened the byline panel, you'll find its settings grouped into Typography, Fill, Spacing, and Advanced options. Here's what each one controls.
Typography
- Font family, Font weight, Font size: Set the byline's text styling.
Fill
- Font color: The byline text color.
- Accent color: A secondary color used within the byline.
Spacing
- Avatar size: Pixel size of the author's profile picture, adjustable via slider or exact value.
- Gap: Spacing around the byline.
Advanced options
- Show date: Toggle the date on or off.
- Date format: July 30, 2026, July 30th, 2026, or 30 Jul. These match the legacy editor's Long, Long Ordinal, and Short options; there's no separate "None" format since hiding the date is now handled by Show date above.
- Date alignment: Left, center, or right.
- Show reading time: Toggle the estimated reading time on or off.
- Reading time font color: Color for the reading time text.
- Reading time label: The label text shown before the reading time.
- Underline author links: Toggle underlining on author name links.
To remove the byline entirely, remove the Authors element from the header toolbar rather than looking for a toggle inside this panel.
Click Preview at the top of the Post Builder to check your byline across Web, Email, Desktop, and Mobile, and to preview different subscriber tiers.
