Accessing a Discord server connected to beehiiv as a subscriber

Discord is a free communication platform that offers voice, video, and text chat inside virtual communities called servers. Publishers using beehiiv can connect their newsletter to a Discord server and create exclusive spaces for subscribers — including private channels for paid members.

This article is for subscribers. It walks you through how to connect your subscriber profile to Discord and access a server linked to a beehiiv publication.

1. Log into the publication website associated with the Discord community you're trying to access.
   
   
   
2. Hover over your profile icon in the top navbar and select Manage Profile.
   
   
   
3. Click the 3 dots menu and select Connections.
   
   
   
4. Click the Connect button next to Discord.
   
   
   
5. Click the Log In button and sign in with your existing Discord credentials.

6. Scroll to the bottom of the pop-up and click the Authorize button.
   
   
   
7. Depending on the publisher’s settings, you will either:

• Be automatically added to the Discord server, or
• Receive an email invitation link to join.

What happens if I cancel my paid subscription?
You’ll continue to have access to the Discord role associated with your paid tier until the end of your billing cycle. After that, the role will be removed and you’ll lose access to any private channels reserved for paid members.
Do I need a Discord account to join a server?

I connected my account but don’t see the server. What should I do?
First, check your email inbox for an invitation link, some publishers choose to send invites manually instead of adding you automatically. If you still don’t have access, reach out to the publisher directly for assistance.
