Creating digital products to sell on your website
You can turn your professional expertise into revenue with digital products on beehiiv. Sell anything from guides and templates to coaching sessions on your site — all hosted, sold, and delivered from one place. With 0% commission, you keep every dollar you earn.
In this article, we’ll cover the types of products and services you can sell, how to create digital products in your account, and include a walkthrough video for setting up coaching sessions. Once your products are live, you can add them to your website using this guide and manage orders with this guide.
What you can sell
Digital products let you sell offerings and services directly from your website. To use this feature, you’ll need to be on a paid beehiiv plan and have your Stripe account connected for payment processing, and your website must be published using our new builder (not the legacy website builder).
Digital products you can feature:
- Link / Media: Sell access to a website, affiliate link, or hosted content.
- File / Download: Sell PDFs, guides, templates, eBooks, and more.
- Coaching / 1:1: (Max and Enterprise plans) Offer paid coaching, consultations, or discovery calls.
No matter what you’re offering, every digital product integrates seamlessly with your publication site, payment system, and customer management inside beehiiv.

This video walks through creating a digital product for coaching or one-on-one consulting sessions. The written instructions below cover those same steps — plus the full details on all other digital product types.
How to create digital products
- From the left panel, go to Monetize > Products.
- Your Products dashboard will open. To create your first product, click the + New product button.
- Choose a product type, then click Next.
Select from:
- Link / Media: Sell access to a website, affiliate link, or hosted content.
- File / Download: Sell PDFs, guides, templates, eBooks, and more.
-
Coaching / 1:1: (Max and Enterprise plans) Offer paid coaching, consultations, or discovery calls.
Tech Note: If you have double opt in enabled for new subscribers, customers who purchase a digital product will receive the email with their product separately from their opt-in email and regardless of whether or not they opted in to receiving emails from your publication.
- Fill in the product details as desired. Options vary based on the product type.
Product details can include:
- Product name: The name displayed on the product card.
- Description: A short description shown on the product card.
- Product details: Additional information displayed below the purchase button.
- Call-to-action copy: Customize the text on the purchase button, or leave the default ‘Add to cart.’
- Price: Enter the product price and select your preferred currency from the dropdown. Supported currencies: USD, AUD, BRL, CAD, DKK, EUR, GBP, INR, MXN, NZD.
- Original price (optional): Enter a higher price to display a strikethrough amount, indicating a discount.
- Coaching/1:1 link for purchase (required for coaching products on Max and Enterprise plans): Add a link to your scheduling tool (e.g., Google Calendar, Calendly) so buyers can book their session after purchase.
- Link / Media (link or media products): Add the destination URL customers will access after purchase.
- File / Download for purchases (file or download products): Upload the file customers will receive. Accepted file types include: .pdf, .zip, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .webp, .svg, .mp3, mp4.
- Product page URL: Customize the unique slug for the product page
-
Image (required): Upload an image for your product.
Tech Note: If a buyer is located in a different country then the currency you’ve set, Stripe may automatically display the price in the buyer’s local currency using Adaptive Pricing. If a buyer purchases a product in their local currency, Stripe may apply an additional international fee of 2-4%, which is paid by the buyer.
You can turn this feature off directly in Stripe. For more details, refer to Stripe's Adaptive Pricing documentation
Publish (or save) the product
- After completing the product details, you can publish immediately or save as draft.
- Click the up arrow next to Save draft to access publishing options.
- Choose Publish to make your product live.
- Choose Save draft to save without publishing.
- When publishing, you’ll be asked to confirm your choice. Once a product is published, certain fields become locked and cannot be edited (including product type, files, and connected calendars).
You will still be able to edit the title, description, price, product details, and call-to-action text.
Click Publish product to finalize, or Cancel to return and make edits.
- After publishing, you’ll return to your Products dashboard, where all active and draft products appear.
