Bounces

Bounce, bouncing, and/or bounces generally refer to an undelivered email that is returned to the sender's server due to various reasons. Bounces are classified into two main categories: soft and hard.

  • A soft bounce occurs when an email is temporarily undeliverable, often due to a full inbox, a server issue, or a message size problem. These emails might be delivered after the issue is resolved.
  • A hard bounce happens when an email is permanently undeliverable. This can occur due to an invalid or non-existent email address, domain issues, or when the recipient's server has completely blocked delivery.

Both types of bounces can provide insights into email deliverability and the quality of your subscriber list.
